Abstract

INTRODUCTION:

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a chronic, functional gastrointestinal disorder with altered bowel habits associated with abdominal discomfort without structural and biochemical abnormalities. The most common symptoms associated with this debilitating disease are GIrelated which involve abdominal pain, bloating, discomfort, diarrhea (IBS-D), and constipation (IBS-C) or both diarrhea and constipation, i.e., mixed (IBS-M). Non-gastrointestinal symptoms include fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, and depression.
